The Journey
The toys of Fair & Green
In early 2014, Neena introduced a new range of functional and stimulating toys for kids of all ages that leveraged the Channapatna art form. The result was Fair and Green’s original range of wooden toys handmade by Channapatna artisans. Neena found a local partner in Channapatna who belongs to the family practicing this artform since its inception in the 18th century. Through the local partner, Neena provides a supportive work environment to an all-women team of local artisans who create these toys with love and hope it would make a child smile in some part of the world. Neena took similar care in designing the packaging for the toys, consistent with the all-natural, environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing theme.
Fast forward, these beautiful handmade works of art are now sold through a network of boutique and specialty toy stores around the country. By buying these toys, you are providing livelihood to artisans and their families that allow them to keep their centuries old art form alive for coming generations to savor. Fair and Green toys uses only Fair Trade Practices to provide the assurance that the toys are created in a socially and economically responsible manner. The artisan’s use only sustainable resources to create the toys. All the toys are produced with lead free, non-toxic materials and have been tested and approved, per the ASTM F963 regulation, as safe for children ages 6 months and older.
The brilliant glossy sheen on our toys are a result of a technique that uses natural resin secreted by an Indian lac insect - Laccifer Lacca.

TAKE CARE OF ME AND I'LL BE WITH YOU FOR A VERY LONG TIME!
I prefer shade to sunlight. In other words, I love indoors! If you accidentally drop me on a hard surface, it’s ok - just wipe me with a dry cloth. I don’t really like being wet. If I ever get wet, quickly wipe me with a dry cloth. Even if you never drop me, do clean me with a dry cloth from time to time. I like to look my best! That's really all I ask for. Thank you for your care!
